Springpad as a Health Nut Part 2: Podcasts and Notes

This is part 5.2 of the 7 part series, "Getting Organized when you're Not a Business-Man or Soccer-Mom"!

If you upload an MP3 file to Springpad, you CAN play it back without re-downloading it. That being said, I don't find it very good for podcasts. You can easily lose your place, and to have to re-start a whole entire episode, well that's just plain annoying. Just keep your notes on Springpad and title it to match the MP3.

The app I'm going to share with you isn't free at all. In fact it's ~10$USD. That being said, I am Running CM7.2 on my Triumph, Brom on my Samsung Intercept, and Stock Jellybean on my Nexus 7. It works on all of these devices.

FIRST ensure all your music is organized the way you want it- file wise. Personally, aside from podcasts, nothing is in sub-folders under music. It's all one giant jumbled "mess". That being said, Windows has options to sort your music files by name, artist, album, etc so if you need to copy any files for any reason, you don't have to go into a ton of sub-folders.

Then you need to install Doubletwist on all the devices you want to use it on, including your computer.
After you have all your MUSIC on there, click any song then CTRL+A. This will highlight ALL your songs. Right click, then add to playlist, and select "New Playlist". Make one called something like "All Music". This way any random podcast files you download won't get mixed into your music collection(it's like picking little bitty parts out of a bunch of metal chips, it ain't fun).

If you have a huge music collection, I recommend taking a bunch of your favorite songs and put them in another playlist to sync to your phone, especially if your music collection is close to, or as big as your phone's external memory.

Alright, now add in the files to Doubletwist that are podcast EPISODES. These are the random straggling MP3s you find that aren't in an RSS but you want to check out(like an audio download of a speaker talking). go into all those MP3's, highlight them all and make a playlist called "Podcasts" or something of that nature.

Now if you're using this technique, you can simply go and tick the box to sync that playlist as well, but what if you want to add another show? Let me walk you through that with pictures:
Download the file
I saved the bookmark for this interview in Springpad :P
Now cut the file out of it's download place and paste into the podcast music folder.
Now tap Add Files in the Doubletwist program
Select the File you want to add
Voila! It's in there!
Now just add it to the playlist by doing the whole right-click thing. :)

Sync to the device you listen to podcasts with.
Now that everything is on here, we're going to tap playlists, not podcasts
Remember, the podcasts tab is for RSS feeds you subscribe to.
We're going to select the health one here for episodes.

I'm tapping select all, you have to scroll up for it.

I generally rate the ones I listened to/am listening to with 3 stars so I can remove it from double twist at the end of the day. :)
